Family Connection is a Florida State University organization for the parents and family members of all currently enrolled students. A free e-newsletter, What's Going 'Round, is published monthly to keep families up-to-date on events and issues around Tallahassee and the Florida State University community. Family Connection

You have the opportunity to become a member of Family Connection and to assist your student in achieving his/her educational goals. Family Connection was initiated by parents and family members of current Florida State University students along with the University's staff to promote family involvement and encourage appropriate strategies by which family members can support a students personal and intellectual development during college.

The Dean of Students Department

The Dean of Students Department supports the holistic development of students through advocacy, emplowerment, leadership, accountability, and community. It does this by supoporting the University's academic mission and by providing services, advocacy, and crisis management for all students through creative problem-solving, accessibility, and accountability. Areas reporting to the Dean of Students Department include Family Connection, New Student & Family Programs, Greek Life, Student Rights & Responsibilities, Student Disability Resource Center, Victim Advocate Program, and Withdrawal Services.

It's All Academic for Parents!

The Dean of Undergraduate Studies has put together a quick reference guide, "It's All Academic for Parents," of information and resources for the families of undergraduate students at The Florida State University. Topics covered in this document include: Academic Warning/Probation, Advising, Confidentiality, Deadlines, Disability Resources, University Policies/Graduation Requirements, and more.

Campus Safety & Florida State University Police Department

The Florida State University Police Department (FSUPD) supports The Florida State University Mission by promoting a safe and secure higher education environment while providing proactive police and customer-related services aimed at reducing crime. Along with various campus partners, FSUPD works with students and staff to establish and maintain a comfortable living and learning environment. Seminole Dining

Higher education should be about great food for your body as well as your mind. Fill both while at Florida State University by using making use of the multiple dining opportunities provided by Seminole Dining. Between attending classes, studying, and having fun, you might have little time left to shop, cook and clean. Relax...Seminole Dining will do the work for you at one of FSU's all-you-can-eat restaurants or retail locations.

Student Housing

  • Are you worried about your student getting up in time for class? What him or her to be close to all the action on campus? If so, then living in one of FSU's amazing residence halls or apartment complexes is the solution to all your student's needs. Visit University Housing for more information. A student is encouraged to apply for on-campus housing as soon as he/she is accepted to increase chances of being assigned a space in Florida State University's residence halls.
  • If your student has decided not to live on campus, make sure you make alternative arrangements for housing in Tallahassee as soon as possible.
